Testimonials

I first heard about Alexander Technique (AT) a few years ago through friends & family members who had experienced significant improvements in longstanding, niggling conditions that they had been unable to resolve via many other approaches.

Having later become conscious of some issues with my posture and picked up some muscle and joint problems via sport (and the ageing process ) that I couldn’t seem to shift I started to read up about AT in sports-therapy related books and internet posts and decided to look for a qualified practitioner and give it a go.

I found Sarah via a website for accredited and experienced AT Teachers and from day one found her to be highly personable, professional and very capable.

Through Sarah’s deep knowledge & experience in the theory & practice of AT and ability to link this with wider practical, intellectual & professional topics I very quickly understood that AT is much more than a short-term, practitioner-led therapeutic approach for fixing an injury.

Whilst for me it did indeed achieve that initial objective it has developed into a much deeper philosophical & physiological programme to develop sustained long-term wellbeing and greater awareness of how and why my body does & could operate and the part my awareness of that plays in the outcomes I experience.

Sarah’s blend of dedicated, business-like application of AT to the individual needs of each student and friendly & open approach have worked perfectly for me and I highly recommend her to anyone wishing to learn more about & experience Alexander Technique.

I have been seeing Sarah to help with my riding and overall body movement.  From using the gentle approach to re-educate the mind and body through a series of movements so the body uses muscles more efficiently,  she has patiently helped me understand and visualise my posture and position whilst in the saddle,  enabling my hips to hang more freely and to release tension in my neck which elongates my spine to noticeably improve my balance.  My horse has also benefited from a more balanced rider and is more settled and forward into the bridle.

Working with Sarah is both educational and relaxing - it is a two way communication which has led to improved overall posture and greater strength - particularly in the base of my spine.

I would highly recommend Sarah for her knowledge, commitment and professionalism to this Technique.

Having suffered with tendinitis and ankle spurs for many year's the pain was becoming unbearable.  I was beginning to consider surgery the only option left to me however a work colleague (who had spurs removed ) told me it “was no quick fix”; one ankle at a time and long rehabilitation which would mean being off my feet for weeks on end and unable to earn a living!

My partner Sam suggested I see Sarah as she practiced the Alexander Technique.  I thought Sarah would set to work on my bad ankles right away but it’s a lot deeper than that.  My understanding is that AT focus’s on the whole body being in balance with all parts working together and developing a trust in the body to heal and reset itself!

I can only say that after less than a year my ankles feel like they did years ago.  I can go on walks without pain again and do vigorous exercise - I hold Sarah and the Alexander technique she practices in the very highest regard.
